Sexual Health
Student Health & Counseling Services provides appointments for routine gynecological health care and educational information regarding sexual health concerns.
Services for sexual health including diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted disease/infection, diagnostic microscopy for vaginal infections, and vaccines such as the HPV vaccine to help protect against genital warts, cervical cancer, and anal cancer, gynecologic examinations, Pap Smear testing (screening for cervical cancer), breast exams, contraceptive counseling and prescriptions, pregnancy testing and counseling, and evaluation and treatment of menstrual irregularities.
We recommend that you get tested for STIs if any of these risk factors apply to you:
- You have unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex;
- A condom breaks;
- Your partner has or has had an STI;
- You or your partner inject street drugs;
- You have a new sex partner;
- You have had more than one partner in the past six months;
- Your partner has or had sex with another person;
- You have sex under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol; or
- You are unable to communicate with your partner about your sexual history and ways to reduce risks.
